Character Analysis : Thor Odinson (Part 4 - All-Power & Non-Standard Forms)

 

All-Power

Overview

The All-Power, also known as the Odinforce or Thorforce (and a bunch of other names), is the mystical source of power bequeathed on the All-Father of Asgard. It originates from Odin’s brothers, Vili and Ve, who sacrificed themselves to grant Odin their power, an energy that could shake the foundations of the cosmos, level a world or overthrow a universe (though an alternate telling instead depicts it as stemming from the combined life-force of the entire Asgardian race from the previous Ragnarok cycle). The power is derived from Yggdrasil’s magic and is described as the force which all godly energies flow from. Writer of Immortal Thor Al Ewing has explained that he understands the All-Power as part of the knowledge granted to Odin via his sacrifice on Yggdrasil, which was later bequeathed to Thor. This event is depicted in the series itself, showing how Odin’s sacrifice in his younger days caused the sentience of Yggdrasil to bequeath upon him wisdom and the All-Power, which Thor now uses in the present.

The All-Power grants its wielder practical omnipotence over their subjects, making all things possible, with both Odin and Thor having employed it for a variety of strange and esoteric abilities. Odin has called it a near-limitless reserve of power, and even a tiny sliver of the All-Power has been described by Hank Pym as nearly infinite. The All-Power automatically transfers from parent to child upon death, slowly passing to the child over-time, and cannot be given in full unless the parent has died. Being the ruler of Asgard likewise augments the All-Power’s magic and makes it more powerful. Just wielding the All-Power makes the user physically stronger and more durable, able to endure blows which would have otherwise killed them. It also grants a true form of immortality, with Magni lasting until the end of time while wielding it, only passing away when forever and a day had gone by.

The All-Power is sentient in its own right, able to draw Thor to specific locations to speak to him and guide him, teleport him to Yggdrasil, and even leave him of its own volition should it deem him unworthy. The powers of an All-Father are exceptionally difficult to use, with Hercules needing Gaea’s help to unlock the powers fully during the Chaos War and even Thor, circa the events of The Immortal Thor with over a century of memories of using the All-Power, still lacking experience with the power relative to Odin. While multiple characters who lack an understanding of its magic have briefly held and used the All-Power, it is the knowledge granted by Yggdrasil via sacrifice that allows one to properly tame it, which is likely why only Odin and Thor seem to be able to use it to its truest potential. 

Thor has held the All-Power on multiple occasions, first having been granted it by Odin temporarily in a battle against Surtur. More prominently, he gained it upon Odin’s death in the late 90s, in a series of events which would come to be known as the Reigning due to Thor slowly going mad with the power he was given, ultimately leading to the timeline being split and undone. Early on, Thor was subconsciously holding back the Odinpower due to believing he could never stack up to Odin, and even after he believed himself to no longer be holding back, the Odinpower informed him that his efforts were still minimal compared to the power’s limitless potential, before guiding him to understand the true potential of the power. After Ragnarok, Thor would continue to use the All-Power until sacrificing it to repair Mjolnir. He gained the power back upon becoming king of Asgard after the War of the Realms, though it was later revealed that when Thor took the throne, Odin held back the full Odin-Force from him, forcing Odin to sacrifice his life to grant Thor the full Odin-Force. Thor would continue to wield the full All-Power, renaming it the Thor-Force, as his own up to his death. After Thor’s death, it passed to his son from the future, Magni.

As you can probably figure, Odin has many more showings with the All-Power than Thor does. As Thor underwent the ritual of sacrifice to gain knowledge from Yggdrasil in the same way Odin did to tame the All-Power, and as the power’s natural successor, Thor has the best argument out of any character for being able to replicate Odin’s abilities. For this section, I’ll also cover Odin’s showings with the All-Power in order to be comprehensive. In order to make the distinction clear, for each ability, I’ll list what Thor did with it first, and then what Odin (and other users of the All-Power) have done in a separate paragraph.

All-Sleep

The All-Power is not without its drawbacks, most prominent of which is the All-Sleep (or Odinsleep/Thorsleep). Extensive usage of the All-Power will cause the user to grow increasingly weaker and wearier, forcing them to undertake a special sleep to rejuvenate themselves. Odin would typically enter the Odinsleep one full day every year to preserve his immortality, though it can last longer or come quicker depending on how much he exerted himself. Awakening the All-Father from their sleep is dangerous, though it can be done safely and they do have some ability to detect danger to themselves while in this vulnerable state. If awoken early, the All-Father’s power is reduced. Thor has been seen entering the All-Sleep multiple times after particularly strenuous use of the All-Power. During the Reigning, he delayed the All-Sleep by decades to protect himself, at the cost of steadily reducing his power. When he finally underwent the sleep, he awoke pretty quickly and emerged replenished and stronger than ever. Near the end of Immortal Thor, writer Al Ewing explained that Thor initially seemed to enter the Odinsleep fairly often due to only having picked up the All-Power recently, but that he had been seen doing so much less in recent issues due to Thor having gained more familiarity with the power. The All-Sleep usually only comes after a fight has ended anyway, so it’s unlikely to factor into an individual battle.

• Using all of the Odinpower, gathers every fragment of the demolished moon and pulls it together molecule by molecule to completely restore it, imprisoning the Gardener inside the same way Odin imprisoned Surtur in Earth when they first fought. This effort left Thor so drained he plummeted to Earth and passed into a light Odinsleep until his power was replenished

• Thor frees the souls of every Asgardian on Earth, conjuring a thunderstorm which engulfs the entire planet. The effort causes Thor to collapse and require the Odinsleep 

• The Odinsleep (or Thorsleep) causes Thor to access the Netherworld where Odin constantly does battle with Surtur, stabbing him and enduring his slashes. Thor returns to the world of the living when the Odinsleep ends, it takes a day

• Sif states Thor is using too much of the Odin-Force battling the God Tempest and that he risks falling into the All-Sleep

• Thor says the Odin-Power is still not enough to fight Toranos, and that using it for a blast has caused the All-Sleep to come over for him. The more All-Power Thor uses, the longer and deeper the All-Sleep will be, and resisting it only extends it further. He sleeps the All-Sleep for many days, during which he is completely vulnerable. His full strength is returned when he wakes up

• The Odinsleep balances out the All-Power and lets it be saved for important purposes, like winning internet arguments (hi Ewing)

• The battle against Zeus brings the All-Sleep on Thor

Flight

With the All-Power, Thor can finally freely fly under his own power, able to float in the sky or even walk through the air. It has been explained that, while he prefers to fly with Mjolnir’s aid, he can call storm winds to help carry him fast enough to keep up with a thrown Mjolnir.

It’s not specified if Thor still needs to breathe at all or not when he has the All-Power. Even when wielding it, Thor has been hurt by having his breath restricted, but the old King Thor of a future timeline was able to hold off the entropy at the end of the universe in space for eternity without Mjolnir or any opportunity to recuperate, which would indicate he’s likely able to sustain himself indefinitely, so your mileage may vary.

Odin has been seen hovering in the air with the All-Power, and can traverse across large swathes of the cosmos with it, having battled Forsung from one end of the universe to the other. Sif was also able to use the power to freely fly.

Teleportation

Thor can instantly transport himself alongside others to specific locations, and can teleport others into places from far away.

Odin has been able to freely teleport himself and others between realms and across space. He’s been seen summoning a vortex which transports him as a comet from Asgard to The World Beyond at the other edge of the universe. He frequently teleports and banishes others, such as: using his scepter to send Thor and the Black Knight to Earth (notably being able to do so even with Asgard in dimensional flux when Thor himself couldn’t), casting a spell which transports the entire human race to an alternate dimension where they’re all frozen, shifting all of Asgard and its inhabitants and Mangog to a new location beyond the furthest galactic barriers in a lonely dimension at the cost of much of his energy, transporting all of Asgard’s forces to Earth with a wave of his scepter, banishing the Enchanters to the Lost Limbo of Infinity Unending, banishing Loki to Mephisto’s realm, banishing Seidring to another part of the universe beyond Asgard, banishing Hulk to Earth, banishing Heimdall to the realm of Nightmare, sending Seth back to his domain to defeat him, and sending Annihilus back to the Negative Zone.

Portals

Similarly to his teleportation, Thor has been seen creating a portal which he and Thialfi crossed to reach Egypt.

Odin has on occasion employed portals as well. Most notably, he channeled and routed the explosive energy Surtur held, which was going to destroy the realms, through a portal into Asgard-space to dissipate it.

Energy Projection

Thor can fire blasts of extremely powerful godly energy from his body. A particular favourite of his during the Reigning was firing out eye-lasers, Homelander-style, which were powerful enough to shatter Captain America’s shield.

• Fires a blast of pure Odinforce at Desak, which begins burning him away. Desak matches with his own fires of all hell combined and creating a building sized explosion, with Olson noting Desak drinks god-power like a vampire. Desak appears unharmed afterwards

• Destroys the Bloodaxe with a blast of energy, noting only the Odinforce is powerful enough to do it

• Fires an Odinforce energy blast from his hand at Desak, who calls it impressive but endures it. Thor keeps pumping the power on, the lightning surges ripping apart the castle and creating a huge energy burst, but Desak seems to absorb it

Eye Blasts

• Fires eyeblasts at Olson who blocks with Mjolnir, the blasts encompassing him and killing Olson

• Disintegrates Wolverine with his eye-beams, even seeming to warp his adamantium claws

• Fires an eye-blast which disintegrates Captain America and shatters his shield, burning through it. Notably he can still fire the eye lasers even without his left eye

Odin has employed the All-Power to manifest fire and lightning which he fused within his body to create a force wave on Earth, create a large explosion, and unleash a blast of anti-energy across realms. His bolts can reach from Asgard to Earth, and can kill incorporeal entities like Mimir and hurt Loki’s astral self. In his battle with Forsung, he channeled energy through the sceptre of power in a contest, the energy shaking the universe and merging into a fireball with Odin and Forsung in the middle, as they crashed through planets and created new suns across the galaxy, with their battle raging beyond all time and space. Similarly, against Infinity, his energy blasts lit up the galaxy and shattered distant planets. Their battle swirled surrounding planetoids, created light visible from distant planets, and was so great it caused Asgard itself to begin collapsing and the Rainbow Bridge to shake.

Telekinesis

The All-Power grants wide-scale telekinesis, most prominently having been used multiple times to lift the entirety of Asgard’s capital and ferry it across dimensions.

• Thor shifted Asgard’s capital from its realm to floating above New York

• Asgard is left in a partial ghostly form of existence in its own dimension. Thor transported its people to earth but the city itself more a mix of partial transportation and partial construction, leaving the ghostly Asgard still in its own dimension

• Fires a lightning bolt from his hammer which rips out a massive chunk of earth containing Asgard’s capital and lifts it 8 feet into the sky

• Osborn calls this chunk of Asgard the size of Brooklyn

• Thor unleashes the power of Odin to draw Mjolnir from Magni’s hand and place it near his own, though he avoids actually directly touching it and instead hovers it around him

• Commands two huge pillars of Earth to rise and swallow Desak while keeping Magni and Amora in an energy field. Magni is shocked and says he had no idea Thor was capable of all this.

• Telekinetically grabs pieces of debris to prevent Asgard’ capital falling apart

• Commands Asgard to fall, crushing the Godkiller Super Skrull

• Raises rocks into the air

• [Old King] Commands three suns and slams them into Gorr

Others have used the telekinesis of the All-Power for a variety of effects. Odin was able to reach through space “to the very end of infinity” to, in a split-second, slam down the frozen remnants of a dead planet on top of Surtur, cold enough to subdue Surtur’s snakes. Later, he dragged a nearby meteor storm from over the Rainbow Bridge to attack Thanos, and even while dead in Valhalla, could use the “power beyond power” to take control of Skurge’s own axe telekinetically and kill him with it. He altered the course of an alien ship from Asgard to make it land where he wants, and Iron Man has said Odin could make Asgard rise up from the ashes of its ruin with a snap of his fingers. With just a gesture, he was able to make Loki and Absorbing Man weightless and careen off into space, or summon the Worthy’s hammers out from their hands. Likewise, Seidring could use the All-Power to cast a ray into the cosmos and seize three (very very small) planetoids before instantly hurling them down to Asgard against Thor, and Marnot has fired a telekinetic blast with the All-Power to slow a falling bed.

Heat Manipulation

Thor can project balls of fire from his hand, which are potent enough to ignite the forges of Nidavellir and conjure the heat of a billion suns to unravel Mjolnir’s enchantments and burn away the Mother Storm. Thor himself is unharmed in the heat and the Mother Storm and Mangog’s merged soul seems to die from the fires. Thor has notably stated in a separate context that the fires of Nidavellir could melt Ultron’s body.

Odin has also been seen manipulating the elements more generally. He could cast a flame across Asgard’s torches, which, when lit up on the Mount of Eternity’s beacon, can be seen even “at the opposite end of the infinite void”, reaching far into space to Loki’s location. His fireballs can instantly dissolve the trolls’ vehicles into nothing and he can entrap people in circles of fire. Beyond just fire, he can manipulate the elements to split apart the earth at will, using this to bury Surtur underneath in a tomb of rock.

Sealing

The All-Power can seal things in a variety of ways, either containing outbursts of energy, sealing others in mystical spheres, or trapping them in physical objects.

• Smashes two nuclear missiles and endures the explosion before containing it in an energy sphere of Odinforce, though he admits he can’t hold it forever

• Fully embraces the Odinpower, flying into space and dragging the Gardener behind him in an energy sphere

• Seals Jane Foster, Wanda, and her daughter in a sphere, teleporting them into it from far away, and transports them to Asgard

• Using all of the Odinpower, gathers every fragment of the demolished moon and pulls it together molecule by molecule to completely restore it, imprisoning the Gardener inside the same way Odin imprisoned Surtur in Earth when they first fought. This effort left Thor so drained he plummeted to Earth and passed into a light All-Sleep until his power was replenished

• Puts Mjolnir in a containment bubble

• Commands two huge pillars of Earth to rise and swallow Desak while keeping Magni and Amora in an energy field. Magni is shocked and says he had no idea Thor was capable of all this

Odin has used the All-Power to seal the likes of Mangog, Surtur, and Cul. As was mentioned, he sealed away Surtur by forming the Earth around him and binding him with the centrifugal force of its rotation. He sealed the Vizier in a cube which also shrunk him, bound Loki inside a tree with a scepter blast, sealed the God Tempest inside raw uru purely through his magic, and somehow sealed Lorelei and Sigurd’s hearts in goose eggs. He’s able to work magic to bar the likes of Thor from entering Asgard. Seidring could use the All-Power to seal Heimdall in “a block of ethereal force” and the warriors of Asgard in ethereal energy bands.

At its most extreme, Odin is even capable of sealing away entire dimensions. He sealed away the Asgard dimension, cloaking it even from Heimdall’s vision, and requiring Loki to find a weak spot in its barrier and break through with a few billion megatons of exploding warships. He tore Heven, the 10th realm, loose from the roots of Yggdrasil itself and sealed it away, making it unable to be sensed, his winds sweeping the angels to the Endworlds at the edges of the universe. The Odinforce curse prevented the angels from ever returning home, and the angels used the energy of the curse as an engine to power their world. The end of the curse threatened to make it implode and turn into a black hole. Odin has even said he could seal the World Tree as a whole, and he sealed Donald Blake’s dream dimension deep in the World Tree to prevent intruders.

Summoning

Thor has summoned Asgard’s entire capital from the void, having done so over a week after returning from Ragnarok. Using Mjolnir, he was able to summon Storm through the dimensional winds, which not even she could overpower, and forcibly summoned Ulik through a portal. He can also more indirectly summon the Avengers by shouting “Avengers Assemble” intensely enough to echo across Manhattan.

Odin has sounded a summon through Asgard to draw the Warriors Three to him, summoned guards out of nowhere with the All-Power, and summoned the Rainbow Bridge next to him. Via his transportation abilities, he can generally just summon whoever he wants to appear at any time, such as when he summoned Hercules, Beta Ray Bill, and Kurse to aid in a battle without them even realising. Ultron has used the All-Power to summon Asgardian demons from portals.

The Knowing

Usually just called ”omniscience”, this allows Thor to sort of just intuitively know key information regarding his current objectives, ranging from upcoming events to the locations of key items. While it is powerful, it is not true omniscience, since Thor isn’t aware of everything going on in the world, and Thor has been unable to tell when someone is lying on occasion (though this contradicts other showings). As an elder god, Thor is also able to sense changes to the timeline and can remember what happened before the timeline was changed and the universe was dramatically altered.

• Genis-Vell says the Odinpower lets Thor tell if what Genis shows him is a lie or not

• Thor’s Odinpower lets him know the vision Genis showed him about Odin is true, the storm giants being his secret shame

• The Odinpower warns Thor of betrayal by showing him a fully accurate recollection of his fight with the Avengers in a dream

• During the Reigning, Thor hadn’t undergone Odinsleep in decades and his power was at its lowest now. He says he could possibly know more about the incoming betrayal he senses if his power wasn’t depleted

• With a flash in his eyes, suddenly realises the exact plan he needs to do to undo the events of the Reigning

• When Thor reached out with his senses, he was able to find Zarrko’s time machine

• Younger Thor is able to use Odin’s power to sense that future Thor is his own older self and isn’t lying

• Using their connection and his All-Father powers, Thor is able to see the universe an evil AU version of himself comes from and use the Bifrost to send him there back in time to give him a fresh start

Odin has similarly frequently employed his cosmic senses to detect danger. It’s been stated that Odin is aware of everything going on in all realms, and that he could perceive certain forces taking shape to resolve things with Eric Masterson, later noting he predicted the events of the story would happen. As the all-wise, Odin was aware of Thor’s battle with the Destroyer even without his crystal ball. Even when unable to clearly grasp the nature of a threat, his mystic senses still alert him of something amiss. Attacks on Yggdrasil alert his senses directly, and he was likewise able to detect Thanos’s use of the Infinity Gauntlet as a threat to Asgard, though he was caught off guard before he could respond. Even when diminished, he was able to sense Freyja’s near-death.

Odin generally has some degree of prescience, having seen visions of future events via dreams such as Thor slaying Surtur and Balder’s future. He sensed the events of Masterson’s corruption as a long time coming and foresaw many of Loki’s escapades, even somehow becoming aware of the Reigning before it actually happened. Despite this, he has made clear that omniscience does not grant him the ability to control fate and that he can only set things in motion and hope they play out. As an All-Father, Hercules noted he could see numbers the same way Amadeus Cho does if he focuses.

Scrying

Through flames, Thor is able to observe individuals on Earth from Asgard.

Odin has employed a large variety of celestial screens, magic crystals, spatial screens, mystic waters, scrying pools, Omni-Runes, and more to observe the ongoing events on Earth or in-space. His Enchanti-Scan is able to determine the exact location of a specific thought on Earth, his monitor can observe Galactus’s vessel and look inside it, and he can fire blasts from his scepter into a crystal ball to observe where specific individuals are. Of particular note are the flames of truth, which Odin has used to reveal the truth behind Jake Olson. He noted that even though Loki is invisible in spirit form, he can command the flames to reveal his presence and does so to see Loki before using the flames to carry his words to Earth. Balder has suggested the flames of truth obey only whoever is on Asgard’s throne. Given that, and the fact that this is from the same run and writer as the showing of All-Father Thor observing individuals using flames, these may be the flames Thor is using in that showing, though it’s not explicit.

Mind Manipulation

When battling the Yggdrasil-empowered MODOK, Thor used the lightning to “reach into” MODOK’s mind and give him a gift. What it is isn’t exactly clear but it seems to be something like self-awareness or empathy, and ended the fight. Thor is also able to give all of his memories to a younger version of himself.

Odin frequently employs forgetfulness spells when convenient, having stripped Thor of his memory to turn him into the human Donald Blake, sent a beam towards Loki to close his mind of all thought and sever his connection to the Destroyer, wiped Jane Foster’s memory to make her forget Thor (alongside altering Thor’s mind to make him perfectly ok with Jane leaving him), and removed the memory of all of Infinity’s cosmic destruction from humanity. He was able to put the entirety of the human race into a catatonic state and wiped their memory of the event. He can even wipe his own memories to ensure certain contingency plans won’t be compromised. Beyond manipulating memories, he can plant suggestions in people’s heads and make them kneel in his presence. He was able to block the senses of the Menagerie so they see and hear nothing while on Asgard, and place a spell which forces Loki only to speak the truth via riddle. One time, just to fuck with the dude, he showed Iron Man a vision of the infinite scale of the cosmos and caused him to reailse how meaningless he was.

Odin also has telepathy, able to talk to people in their head from realms away. He’s been able to look into Moondragon’s head, bypass Thor’s mental barriers to enter his mindscape, and stalemate Galactus in a telepathic battle. Similarly, Heimdall used the All-Power to imprison Thor inside Eric Masterson’s own mind.

Illusion Dispersal

Thor can use the All-Power to fire blasts which break illusions.

Odin has likewise been able to fire a blast to reveal the true form of the Enchanter past his transformed disguise. Magni would later use it to reveal Ulik’s disguise as Tanarus was a lie, despite the fact that this disguise was empowered by skald-magic which had altered Ulik’s very story.

Soul Manipulation

While separated from Jake Olson, the mortal part of his soul, it was noted that Thor could use the Odinpower to undo the separation from Olson, but chooses not to. An older Thor would later merge his younger self and Olson together again with a raise of his hand, while giving younger Thor all his memories. Much later still, Thor would do something similar for offense, casting magic to draw from Doom’s reservoir of souls and free the controlled spirits.

Odin’s showings of soul manipulation are pretty vast and varied. The entire origin of the villain Mangog is Odin merging a race composed of a billion, billion souls into a single entity, and he’s shown the capability to undo this spell to restore the race to life. He later defeated Mangog again by cutting off the spell which connected Mangog to the hate that fuels him. More generally, Odin has forced Thor’s soul out of the Destroyer and back into his body, distilled Thor’s essence into mortal form, absorbed the entire life-force of Asgard, contained souls in his scepter, imprisoned a spirit in an Asgardian relic, summoned Volla’s spirit to appear in Valhalla, and imprisoned Loki’s spirit in Jake Olson’s body, stripping him of all his godly power and making him fully mortal, which Karnilla noted would be a challenge to undo.

Of particular note to Thor are the times Odin has merged or unmerged Thor with another being. In order to save Eric Masterson’s life, he merged him, body and soul, with Thor, a process which Thor has described as physically and mentally bonding him with Eric on every plane of reality, which was later undone by Heimdall when he held the All-Power. The aforementioned separation of Thor and Jake Olson occurred when Odin drew out the part of Thor that was Jake Olson and made him his own entity, essentially creating a mortal duplicate of Thor who shared all his memories.

Odin’s power over souls is great enough that he was able to break Mephisto’s hold over a child’s soul, with Mephisto admitting his contract was nullified by a power equal to his own.

Matter Manipulation

Using all of the Odinpower (at least as he understood it), Thor was able to gather every fragment of the demolished moon and pulls it together molecule by molecule to completely restore it, imprisoning the Gardener inside the same way Odin imprisoned Surtur in Earth when they first fought. This effort left Thor so drained he plummeted to Earth and passed into a light All-Sleep until his power was replenished.

Odin has frequently employed matter manipulation in a variety of forms. As mentioned, in myth, he used his great sword to draw all the electro-magnetic particles of the cosmos and concentrate them around the planet to make it spin around the sun, trapping Surtur in the center of the planet through centrifugal force. He laid waste to the land of Nastrond so that not a single form of life could live there, searing the water to fuse them into crystals. In a different telling of his backstory, he reconstructed the Rainbow Bridge from its shattered old remnants, and fired a magical ray of transmutation at rhinegold ring-halves to form them into the Odinsword. He was also able to transmute an apple of Iduna into pure gold with a gesture.

Odin has also employed matter manipulation against living beings. He turned Mimir to fire to make him his advisor, has forcibly transformed Thor into Blake, transformed the Menagerie from their monster forms back into human selves, turned a frog into a giant dragon rivalling Fafnir, dissipated Zelia and the Dark Gods among the solar winds, and transmuted the Scarlet Centurion into an hourglass. When Odin fought Galactus, Sif herself raised the question of how beings like them can fight, saying either could just turn the other into a moth in a jar or cause an inferno in the other’s skull. Thor responded that omnipotence has its down side. On multiple occasions, Odin has undone transmutation against others, having reversed Enchantress’s spell which near-instantly turned Dazzler into light and would have killed her, and having unleashed a massive magic wave across Paris, undoing Grey Gargoyle’s stone transmutation of the population.

Creation

The All-Power can simply manifest objects out of thin air with a gesture, such as a banquet or a set of golden armour and sword.

Odin has used the All-Power to do things like create chains binding Loki to his wife before later erasing them, reconstruct a path from Earth to Asgard’s dimension with a wave of his hand, and craft a prison to restrain Thor while also reshaping Asgard, turning it into a war engine capable of razing Earth. In myth, Odin first formed the Rainbow Bridge himself to head to Earth. Seidring has used the All-Power to create a globule of liquified wolfbane to suck Thor in.

Restoration

Pretty vague, but Thor once projected his power to restore two burned down churches, saying the process should take an hour or two. It seems Thor doesn’t need to be there for the process to continue.

Odin has used this ability on multiple occasions to undo severe damage. He was able to wipe out all the damage Infinity caused across the universe in an instant, restore all the damage done by Ego-Prime on Earth and wipe mortal memory of it, and fire eye beams through a projection of himself to repair the Recorder and restore him to life. It was stated Odin could repair Asgard with a snap of his fingers, and even as a spirit, he managed to restore the damage done to the World Tree.

Time Manipulation

In the climax of the Reigning, Thor stopped time around himself with a wave of his hand to prepare to travel back in time and undo the bad future. The old King Thor of a future timeline was able to send his younger selves back to their own times with the Thor-Force. As noted previously, All-Father Thor could time travel to the past during the events of the Reigning, but this required help from both the goddess Tarene and Zarrko’s time-travel device, and he explicitly could not do it on his own.

Odin, similarly, has stopped time around Thor on Earth and frozen the fabric of time across the planet with just a gesture. Beyond just stopping time, he can send people to the future or past and reverse time (at least to an extent). He tore apart the fabric of space to retrieve Cosmic Ghost Rider from a dead timeline, and stated he has the magic to send him to any time and place in all of creation before sending him to the 616 timeline’s past. An old edition of the Marvel Handbook states Odin can’t time-travel unaided, though Hank Pym has been able to use a sliver of the Odinforce to free himself from Ultron and snap himself back through time like a rubber band.

Life Manipulation

The All-Power can be used to grant life, which can be applied as healing of the wounded. According to Ulik and Orikal, the realm of Asgard itself endures by the grace of the Odinpower, with the land growing decrepit without it. Thor has implied healing others with the All-Power can take time.

The All-Power can fully restore life in a sense, but it’s considered taboo to do so, Thor managed to successfully restore to life a dead girl by willing it to happen and supplying more life force, but it leaves her a catatonic emotionless zombie with no soul. When Thor remarked that the All-Power should have brought the child back, Sif retorted that if it was proper to restore life, Odin would have done it more often. When a decapitated Volstagg was restored to life by a magical apple, this effect was specifically compared to the limitless magic of the Odin-Power, so it seems like while the ability does exist in some form, it is not ‘true’ resurrection. Later on, Thor channeled the All-Power into Ullr’s flame to resurrect Magni “past all doorways, across all voids, past fate itself”, with it being suggested he could have resurrected Iric from Valhalla instead, though this required the Enchantress’s magic and could not be done by the All-Power alone. The old King Thor from a future timeline was able to resurrect his younger self with the Thor-Force and burn out the last of All-Black’s sickness inside him, and later imbued lightning into living clay to make a new generation of humans, noting that he could give them more power to make them live longer past 275 years old.

Odin has frequently employed the All-Power to heal others. He restored Balder to life when he was aged to near-death, healed the wounds of Beta Ray Bill at the cellular level, and cured Thor of his injuries multiple times. Going beyond just healing, he’s resurrected Hela, Hulk, Brunhilde and Siegfried, and restored the entire Asgardian race from the previous Ragnarok cycle using their living atoms. As he commands the life energies of the Asgardian race, Odin can absorb the entire race’s life-force into himself freely to empower himself, and restore them back to life once he’s done. It’s been stated that while he can’t grant life or preserve its past when it’s supposed to go, he is able to ignite the sparks of life of those fading to revive them, such as when he flowed the Odinpower into Balder to put him in a half-death state. The Marvel Handbook references this incident, and makes explicit note Odin can’t resurrect someone who’s passed into the realm of Hel, though during the events of Ragnarok, his spirit did that exact thing to save Thor from Hela.

Beyond healing others, Odin can manipulate life in general. He was able to make a plant grow to save Balder, and grew a flower in Hela’s domain due to being the god of life. In myth, it’s said Odin and his brothers set a ring around Earth from which Yggdrasil bloomed, and it’s known that in the past he cast a spell on the land of the trolls that made their crops grow. Odin is also able to alter the bodies of others, having completely removed and restored Thor’s mouth before, and Marnot (one of Odin’s ravens given the All-Power) having snapped away a woman’s mouth. Odin was able to undo Ego Prime’s mutation of some humans with a wave of his hand. He once cast a delayed spell, set to only activate if a specific event occurred, to transform one of his ravens into the humanoid Marnot, imbued with the All-Power. After Thor’s death, Magni has used the power to prevent a Frost Giant from melting while in Muspelheim.

Odin has been able to use the full breadth of his ability to create life outright. Most obviously, via his knowledge of the runes and a combination of science and sorcery, he created a human soul and construct in the form of Donald Blake, banishing Thor into that form. He employed a similar method to reconstruct his people in mortal guise, stripping them of their powers, memories, and immortality to convince Yggdrasil that Ragnarok had killed them and bypass it. He was also able to create an exact doppelganger of Loki for Thor to fight.

Energy Absorption

With the All-Power, Thor’s ability to absorb energy becomes especially powerful. He was able to forcibly take an amped Galactus’s Power Cosmic from him using Mjolnir. In his battle with Zeus, Thor absorbed Zeus’s lightning as he tried burning him with it, before draining the rest of Zeus’s power by grabbing him. By taking all his power, Thor now had the power of Zeus and the power of Odin in one god, and resisted the corrupting Utgard darkness and Wheel of Fate of Zeus he had also absorbed to shape his lightning into a golden belt, Yolgjord, and seal Zeus’s power safely

Odin has absorbed cosmic power blasts with his scepter and drawn the limitless powers of the gods by plunging his sword into the ground. With a touch, he could drain the strength from Hela’s body until she’s helpless. He was able to absorb the power and very essence of Surtur into his body, restoring himself to full power. When the Dark God Zelia stole his power, Odin was simply able to grab her to reclaim his energy. He can draw forth power from allies such as Tarene and Zeus, in his backstory having done this to fuse with his brothers into one being which fought evenly with Surtur. When Odin’s spirit was trapped in Mjolnir, it was able to use the magic of Mjolnir to drain the gamma out of a Hulked-Out Thor, which is particularly impressive given that just prior, Odin and Asgard used the united of power of every realm in the known and unknown universe and all the magics and enchantments known to the runes and fates to try and leech off Thor’s rage, and it didn’t work.

Power Manipulation

Thor has control over the All-Power of others, able to draw out the All-Power from Olson when it had been stolen from Thor, restoring his strength and turning Olson mortal again. Like Odin, he can imbue his magic into weaponry to grant them mystical properties, such as returning to his hand after being thrown.

Odin has, of course, manipulated the powers of others on many occasions, frequently having stripped Thor and others of their power to render them effectively mortal, also having done this to create Donald Blake. He’s been able to halve Thor’s power with a command without Thor even realising, once took away Brunhilde’s godhood in full with a kiss, and with a gesture stripped every Asgardian of all their powers instantly. In combat, he was able to channel his full power against Surtur to sever his connection to the Eternal Flame, fire blasts of Odinforce to return Surtur’s minions to their mortal form, strip Tempest of his powers, and reduce the strength of the Dark Gods, preventing them from opening their gateway. He was able to drain Skagg’s strength through his sword, enough to overcome Loki continuously refuelling Skagg, and knock him out, though it left Odin exhausted. Similarly, All-Father Ultron was able to neutralize Ant-Man’s Pym Particles via the All-Power.

Odin has enchanted many weapons using the All-Power as well, including Mjolnir, Balder’s sword and Sif’s blade to allow them to traverse dimensions, Heimdall’s blade to create an illusion around himself, and weapons for all the Avengers to transform them into super forms. Odin has duplicated Thor’s essence via mystic fires to then imbue that essence into specific items. Beyond just weapons, Odin can grant others his powers directly, able to turn mortals into gods or imbue his power into spaceships. He’s even done this to forcibly return Cosmic Ghost Rider’s powers to him, noting he does his best to mitigate the mental change of it. It’s only fitting, then, that Odin can also make himself mortal if he so chooses, having once wiped out his powers and memories in order to live as a mortal named Orrin.

The All-Power can also break spells. With Odin’s power, Loki freed Skagg from the circle of flame and Surtur from the spell imprisoning him within the Earth, and it was stated Loki’s tower of sorcery is protected by spells only Odin could undo.

Existence Erasure

Thor claimed while battling Desak that he had the power to simply remove him from existence with an energy wave. Desak boasted in response that he’s killed thousands of gods and just as Thor is immune to a common cold, Desak is immune to his power. We seem to see this actually take place later on, when Thor begins erasing Desak by touching his face, though Desak manages to resist and fight it off. 

Additionally, Ulik has stated that Odin could have just blinked the trolls out of existence if he so wished but understood the need to live and let live. Odin once made a group of humans fade into nothing before restoring them at the end of the issue, and Thor has stated Odin could vanish Seth’s soldiers with a gesture.

Size Changing

The very first thing Thor ever used the All-Power for was whipping up a vortex with his hammer that caused him to grow, matching Surtur in size for battle. 

Odin has used this power to grow in size to match Seth’s giant height, and shrunk the both of them down to human sized by bear-hugging Seth. He’s also done this to trade blows with a cosmically empowered Doctor Doom.

Other Abilities

Odin and others have used the All-Power to perform many abilities Thor has never explicitly shown. To make the distinction between what Thor himself has done and what Thor can hypothetically do clear, I’m isolating all of those abilities here. As mentioned before, Thor likely should have the capability to do any of this, beyond any other non-Odin character, given his knowledge of the runes allowing him to tame the All-Power and his centuries of experience with it, but even by the time of his death he had yet to achieve the same mastery of it Odin had, making it still a bit hypothetical. 

God-Sight

When Ultron had the All-Power, he described himself as having the God-Sight, allowing him to see everything and even look inside himself. Odin has frequently shown supreme observation, able to directly observe events on Earth from Asgard and vice-versa. He can perceive Loki in their astral form, and Zeus could similarly see past Pluto’s helmet of invisibility.

In terms of senses, he’s been able to sense Loki’s presence without looking, sense a Vanna even while it is merged with the air and grab it, and sense Thor is in danger instinctually. He can hear Thor’s words all the way from Asgard and has been able to sense rifts in dimensions. Once, when Thor flew away from Asgard so fast that Heimdall, who says he can hear a fly buzzing at the nether end of the universe and then count the hairs on that fly, couldn’t tell what it was, Odin was able to actually register it as Thor’s presence. While blinded, Seidring could use the Odin-Power to track Thor as he tried to escape.

Projection

A superpower I employ frequently in conversation. The Marvel Handbook describes this as Odin’s ability to project a 3D audio-visual image of himself visible and audible only to those he wishes across space or dimensions, which he frequently employs to contact Thor on Earth and hie him back to Asgard. Heimdall has likewise done similar during his stint as All-Father. Through this, Odin has essentially occupied multiple places at once, given he can spot happening across space via projecting his consciousness there and even attack from his visages while occupied in battle with something else.

Through projections, Odin has stripped others of their powers, summoned an ally for Thor on Earth at his request, sent Thor his chariot, sent Thor across space to Earth, and forced Loki from Earth to Asgard. While operating in multiple places at once, he had a complete battle with Iron Man, easily defeating him and being unphased by any of his attacks before showing him a vision of the cosmos and undoing Grey Gargoyle’s petrification of Paris. He can project images of things other than himself as well, such as showing the events occurring on Earth with a projection from his hand or manifesting images of ongoing battles. He also has a form of retrocognition, having used his scepter to capture time and bend it back to view an image in the past in detail. He could turn the vision back further to view Galactus’s birth and first ever attack.

Odin has astral projected his soul out of his body on a few occasions, such as astral projecting from the World Beyond to Asgard to warn Thor of a threat. His astral form can physically interact with and hurt those around it, and is potent enough to duel with Thor’s spirit on a level beyond Adam Warlock’s Soul Stone and defeat Loki’s astral self on every astral and metaphysical plane.

Barriers

Odin has created bubbles of force around the likes of Balder and Beta Ray Bill which can protect from those as strong as Hela and Thor. These shields can be large enough to cover a city. Odin’s personal shields can easily deflect blasts from Iron Man and block attacks from Galactus. He’s able to manifest an aura of sheer force around himself. Seidring has used the All-Power to create an impenetrable crystal shield around himself to block rubble thrown by Thor.

Illusions

From Asgard, Odin could create illusions on Earth of Thor bullfighting and repelling an avalanche with winds, which fooled even Hela’s senses. He later created a complete, tangible illusion of Asgard and many individuals to trick both Hela and Thor, and cast an illusion around Balder to make him look like Mangog against Thor.

Shapeshifting

Odin, as in myth, is known as a shape-shifter. He once grew in size and took the visage of the fusion form which banished Surtur in the past, noting he was unable to do this until Surtur stopped blocking his ability to do so. He can transform from his human disguise to his godly form with a tap of his cane, and has claimed he can shape-shift into a hound.

Invisibility

Odin rendered himself invisible to the Vizier while playing chess with Dormammu, and invisibly carried himself on Sleipnir with Blake in tow across the continent to Wundagore.

Animal Control

Odin has dominion over animals, having once turned a hawk to a  servant to protect Balder.

Space Manipulation

Odin was able to repair his own rent in space he used to summon Bill and Sif. Seidring has used the All-Power to warp the fabric of space to deflect a strike from Thor.

Stasis

Odin has frozen Mangog in place with a ray of power, frozen Asgard’s soldiers by paralysing the atoms of the air, and trapped Donald Blake in stasis with a spell so powerful it caused an explosion when Sigyn attempted to free him. Seidring could use the All-Power to immobilise Balder in mid-air, unable to move or speak, and Heimdall has used a fraction of the All-Power to freeze Eric Masterson Thor in place.

Dimension Creation

It was revealed in more recent runs that Odin created a “hidden dimension” beneath the roots of Yggdrasil for Donald Blake to go every time Thor swapped places with him. This dream world is somehow the same thing as the completely separate dream world Blake was trapped in by the Mares in an older run.

Reality Warping

While playing chess with Dormammu, Odin warped reality and affected Lord Chaos and Master Order, having to end the game in a tie to avoid upsetting the cosmic balance. He’s warped the space of the realm between realms, and has warped a city on Earth, making buildings bend and lean to crush Hela before restoring the damage at the end of the issue. For reasons that weren’t even really explained in the issue itself, he also once magically transformed a cavern in Wundagore into an exact duplicate of a cave in Norway where he left Mjolnir. Odin’s battles have been described as a World-Storm, which is when the gods are fighting and the very quantum fabric of reality is ruptured, and he used this quantum foam to merge an army of Asgardians as a gestalt Blood Legion, including Thor, described as channeling “ancient war magic”.

During the Domination Factor series, Odin imbued the apple of Iduna with the mystical power to establish a new kingdom for Knorda on Earth. She held the apple in the present day and it realised her kingdom, remaking Earth in her image and creating a new timeline. In this timeline Odin never recovered from the death of Thor and Asgard was overrun by trolls. Knorda was able to use the reality warping apple to guide the Avengers’ ship to the past Asgard, and Loki used the apple to completely rewrite reality into Earth-1000. This series has a kind of complex plot, but it shows a portion of Odin’s power contributing to an effect which rewrites the timeline.

Fourth-Wall Awareness

Odin once totally answered a letter on the letters page in-character. Perhaps that’s no surprise when the sentience of Odinforce could physically shape the panels around it.

Miscellaneous

Other stuff which can’t cleanly fit under the aforementioned categories.

• Odin uses his power to will the Odinship to depart and guide it to the furthest reaches of space

• Loki says he can’t materialise solidly in astral form as he can in other spheres because he was exiled from Asgard by Odin. Unclear if he means Odin is blocking him or if it’s because Odin would sense him

• Bor cursed his Valkyries to consume only Asgardian spirits, turning them into the Disir, cannibalistic ghosts.  We don’t exactly know what Bor’s power is and how it links to the All-Power beyond that he and Odin seem to be able to do the same kinds of things

Non-Standard Forms

All of these forms are totally non-standard, but are being listed cause they’re interesting and I imagine people would want to hear about them.

Rune King Thor

During the events of Ragnarok, Thor underwent the ritual to gain cosmic knowledge by hanging from the branches of Yggdrasil, revealing him to the truth of the cycle of gods, seeing beyond quantum structure into the nothingness of Ginnungagap. When Thor was resurrected by the spirit of Odin, he emerged beyond all realities in the realm of Utgard, staring down the true puppet-masters behind Ragnarok, Those Who Sit Above In Shadow, who deemed him worthy of their blessings. He now saw through them with sight beyond sight, and knew they fed on the cycle of gods. When the eldritch beings bragged that they know all outcomes past, present, and future, Thor responded that Odin saw a way to hide him from their manipulations by making him live as a mortal, surprising Those Who Sit Above.Thor proceeded to open his eyes and travel from Utgard to Hilstalft, with runes surrounding him, now wielding cosmic power.

Through the ritual of sacrifice and knowing, having sacrificed even more than Odin had done before, Thor regained the All-Power, but more uniquely, also gained total knowledge and mastery of the runes, transcending him to a whole new level of strength beyond just the All-Power. For instance, he knows a spell to catch a witch and turn her into the wind, as well as a spell to bottle said being and empty the bottle, employing this to free Mangog’s soul, dissipating his form. Even Loki admitted he didn’t know these spells, despite Loki’s entire arsenal being based on rune-magic, indicating Thor in this state may have knowledge of any spell Loki has also used. Thor’s rune magic kept Loki’s head alive even after he ripped off his head, and was able to telekinetically grab a hammer launched at him by Muspelheim demons and launch it back at them, disintegrating them. Thor could also apply this rune-magic more directly offensively, firing huge rune-blasts which decimated Valhalla and blew away fleets of trolls. Those attempting to strike Thor, such as Mangog, would be deflected by runic barriers whenever they tried, with Thor also being physically strong enough to hold back his charge. Thor could also teleport himself and others freely between realms, teleporting from Utgard to Hilstalft as mentioned, travelling to Valhalla and the Loom of Fates, and forcibly teleporting Beta Ray Bill away from the battle and into space to save his life. He was additionally able to sail directly from Valhalla to Muspelheim. When he arrived in Muspelheim, Thor even noted that could restore the broken Mjolnir entirely with his own power, only letting Surtur do it as a show of wisdom. Once it was repaired, he used it to blast a massive path from Muspelheim to Valhalla and Vanaheim, cleaving the ocean in two, and Surtur believed a battle with Thor could crush the world or smite the stars.

Speaking of wisdom, in this state, Thor now knows the unknowable and sees the unseen, knowing why and how Loki has done all his evil deeds. The Odinpower’s manifestation was unable to see into Thor’s thoughts, the lessons Thor learned as Blake shielding his mind. With all this power and knowledge, Thor travelled to the Loom of Fates woven by the Norns to end the cycle of Ragnarok for good. The Norns challenged Thor, claiming they knew of this day from the beginning and refused to let it come to pass. Thor stated even he can’t change what’s been written and doesn’t have the power for that, but he had one thing Those Who Sit Above In Shadow could not comprehend or foresee; his knowledge of humanity, which shielded his true intentions from them. Thor, as the only combination of man and god, who draws power from both, could seek a different path and end the cycle of Ragnarok, giving the Norse Gods their final battle. Those Who Sit Above In Shadow appeared to plead with Thor, offering him a position among them in recognition of his strength and wisdom, but it was to no avail, as Thor proceeded to smash the Loom of Fates, ending the cycle of Ragnarok for good and killing all the gods. Thor ascended to a higher plane, and finally rested the slumber of gods. When he was eventually returned to life, Thor no longer held the power of the runes.

Hulked-Out Thor

When Thor was caught in a gamma burst orchestrated by the Intelligencia, he was hulked-out, becoming the mighty Thorr, the living embodiment of thunder and lightning. In this state, he was strong enough to obliterate buildings with his strikes, beat down the Red Hulk with his hammer, down Skaar, and could produce electric shockwaves from his body which were strong enough to knock out various Red Hulks. He ended up on a whacky misadventure with the hulked-out Spider-Man, taking some hits from him along the way, and his unworthy behaviour caused Mjolnir to become progressively heavier. It took Thor remembering himself to become worthy again and wield the hammer, just in time for him to be cured and returned to normal.

Much later, as the All-Father, Thor would be gamma mutated again, but in a very different and more potent form. During a clash with the Starship Hulk, the Hulk’s gamma exploded at the peak of his rage, and Thor was caught in the country sized burst, turning him into an out of control gamma mutate. Mixing the All-Power, Thor’s natural strength, and the power of a Hulk, this Hulked-Thor immediately smashed through Iron Man’s Celestial Hulkbuster and ripped it apart. The Hulk knocked him through a mountain with a blood-drawing punch, but Thor immediately proceeded to beat down the Hulk and nearly kill him. When Sif attempted to forcibly transport Thor back to Asgard via the Bifrost, he resisted it trying to summon him and completely shattered it, destroying it across all realms. The only way for Hulk to survive was to receive a power-up of his own, Odin allowing the Hulk to wield Mjolnir for the fight and become a Thor-Hulk. The two insanely powerful entities went at it, and their first clash completely obliterated the planet they were on in a single hit. It soon became evident that the Hulked-Thor was far too powerful and out-of-control to tame, overpowering the Thor-Hulk in their clashes and ripping his arm off even after Hulk took him to Asgard. When he was launched into and bound to Yggdrasil, Odin and Asgard used the united of power of every realm in the known and unknown universe and all the magics and enchantments known to the runes and fates to leech off Thor’s rage. It didn’t work, and Thor proceeded to rip out of Yggdrasil’s bindings and uproot the entire tree, Banner stating that Thor risked the end of reality. Ultimately, it took a father comforting his son to prevent the total destruction of everything, Odin speaking to Thor from Mjolnir directly and removing the gamma from him while restoring the World Tree, the resulting explosion knocking out everybody nearby. When they came to, the now-cured Thor lied and claimed the Hulk was killed in the blast, and the All-Father now had to deal with the consequences of his rampage.

Necrosword

When Gorr the God-Butcher was about to end all gods in time and space via detonating the Godbomb, Thor absorbed the blast into himself, using both the Mjolnir of his present and the Mjolnir held by his future All-Father self. Absorbing the bomb’s necrotic energy in-turn ended up merging Thor with Gorr’s weapon, All-Black the Necrosword. With the power of the Necrosword, Thor blew Gorr away with a blast of lightning, incinerating his weapons. After Gorr was subsequently killed, the Necrosword’s corruption lingered in Thor and began tearing him apart from the inside, soon killing him. Thor was then purged of the Necrosword’s corruption and resurrected by his future self’s All-Power, restoring him back to normal. Said future All-Father Thor would end up wielding the Necrosword in his own timeline as well, though this was the only time 616 Thor ever used it.

King of Hel

During a clash for the throne of Hel while Hela was too busy crying over Thanos dumping her, the unworthy Thor battled with Sindr to prevent her from claiming the Hel-Crown. Thor used the Hel-Crown to bludgeon her, before succumbing to the dark power calling to him from the crown upon touching it. Thor donned the crown, and became the King of Hel. Wielding a hammer made of blood frozen as hard as iron, he quickly overpowered Sindr and forced her to surrender, his thunder shaking the World Tree from root to branch all the while. After Sindr fled, Thor had the will to resist the power’s temptation, and took the crown off to give back to Hela.

Herald of Thunder

Soon after Thor became the All-Father of Asgard, Galactus came to him with an unexpected cry for help. He needed the assistance of Thor to stop the Black Winter, the being which had ended Galactus’s original reality and which was now coming for the current universe. Galactus had to consume 5 special planets to amp himself up to extraordinary levels to face the Black Winter, and granted Thor the Power Cosmic to assist in this task. Thor became the Herald of Thunder, which also finally regenerated his long-since amputated left arm and shattered his Destroyer prosthetic. It was probably a fitting omen that even with the Power Cosmic, Mjolnir was growing heavier and heavier in Thor’s hands.

Thor and Galactus’s partnership wasn’t exactly a happy one. Thor would block Galactus from reading his mind to prevent him learning the locations of the planets in an effort to spare them, while Galactus would respond by blasting him from orbit into the surface of a planet and striking him with lasers, which Thor seemed unphased by. Thor, in-turn, was strong enough to blow off Galactus’s fingers with a throw from Mjolnir and control the hammer to smash through his knees. Still, Galactus needed to feed eventually, blowing up the first planet completely and consuming its energy while Thor endured both the planet destroying explosion and the subsequent volley of blasts from a very pissed Beta Ray Bill and his ship. Thor easily backhanded Bill into a moon when the latter charged at him, and had to give up the Power Cosmic to make it a fair fight. 

Thor quickly reclaimed the Power Cosmic after defeating Bill by forcibly taking it from Galactus with a bolt from Mjolnir, downing the empowered giant. When the Black Winter finally came, Thor fired a Power Cosmic-infused lightning blast at the Black Winter strong enough to shatter entire continents, which stunned it for 14 seconds. Thor endured a subsequent assault from the Black Winter and briefly held it off with a barrier from Mjolnir until it overtook him, showing a vision of his own death. He managed to overcome the illusion and unleashed a Godblast to blow away the Black Winter, thinking that if he couldn’t kill it, he could at least make it bleed. The Black Winter was hurt and repelled by the blast, but still active.

When the Black Winter then revealed Galactus was actually its herald, Thor was enraged, downing Galactus with a colossal lightning bolt and charging straight through a blast from him. Keep in mind that at this point Galactus claimed he was stronger than he’s ever been after consuming the 5 special planets, and Thor was still able to continuously block his blast with Mjolnir. Thor would end up defeating this souped-up version of Galactus by blasting him with a bolt from Mjolnir which completely drained him of his newly acquired power, noting he did it in the same way he took the Power Cosmic, before fully killing him with a throw of Mjolnir straight to the chest. He proceeded to channel all his absorbed energy into Galactus’s corpse as a bomb, creating a colossal explosion which destroyed the Black Winter and was felt across multiple galaxies, sacrificing the Power Cosmic and leaving Thor with a lot of guilt on his hands. Keep in mind all of this was done while Thor held a more limited form of the All-Power.

During this story arc, it turns out Thor and Galactus also took a trip to Fortnite for a fully-canonical crossover. Thor’s combined Power Cosmic and All-Power allowed him to resist the magic of Fortnite island, the island slowly draining his memories but allowing him to speak. Even after his memories were drained, he was able to recover them just via seeing Galactus. While there, he took a shotgun blast from Jonesy and multiple shots from various Fortnite guns, and responded by smacking away Jonesy and defeating the group of Fortnite players.

Despite all that, he could still get hurt by a rock.

God in Black

Due to being unworthy, Thor Odinson missed out on the symbiote craze of late 2010s Marvel, but got arguably a better deal a few years later during his solo run. When battling the symbiote-enhanced Darkoth alongside Meridius, a future incarnation of the King in Black Eddie Brock, the All-Father Thor decided to give the symbiote business a try and merge with Meridius, creating the God in Black. By merging as one, the God in Black was capable of brawling with Darkoth, driving away his symbiote with a lightning bolt. Loki explained that together with the King in Black, Thor could trigger ancestral fears of symbiotes like sound and flame. This partnership between kings ended when Meridius split away and revealed his true identity before attacking Thor, and Thor realised he hadn’t read the Ewing Venom run and so didn’t know what the fuck was going on.
